1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how LawyersTrend (“we,” “us,” “LawyersTrend”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit lawyerstrend.com, subscribe to our newsletter, submit a directory listing, or otherwise interact with our services. By using LawyersTrend, you agree to the terms of this Policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1. Information you provide directly. This includes:
- Email address and any other information you submit through our newsletter signup or contact forms;
- Practice information — provider name, address, phone, specialty, languages, and lien-acceptance preferences — submitted through the directory listing application;
- Billing information collected by our payment processor (Stripe) when you purchase a paid directory tier. We do not store full payment-card numbers on our servers.
2.2. Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our servers and analytics tools may log:
- IP address, browser type, operating system, and referring URL;
- Pages viewed, time on page, click events, and search queries within the directory;
- Cookie identifiers used to recognize returning visitors and remember preferences.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate and improve the site, the directory, and editorial coverage;
- Send the newsletter and respond to inquiries;
- Review and publish directory listings, communicate with listed practices about their account, and process payments for paid tiers;
- Measure aggregate traffic, understand which content and providers readers engage with, and improve the user experience;
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Use.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We share limited information with:
- Service providers who help us operate the site, including hosting, email delivery, analytics, and payment processing (Stripe), under agreements that restrict their use of the information to providing the service to us;
- Directory readers — practice information submitted to the directory is published publicly once a listing is approved. Do not submit information through the directory listing form that you do not want made public;
- Legal authorities when required to comply with valid legal process, protect our rights, or address fraud and security issues.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use first-party cookies to keep sessions active and remember preferences. We use limited analytics cookies to measure aggregate traffic patterns. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site — including the directory application flow — may not function correctly without them.
6. Data Retention
Newsletter subscribers may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email, and we will remove the email address from active mailing lists promptly. Directory listings remain published as long as the practice account is active. Aggregate analytics data may be retained indefinitely in deidentified form.
7. Your Choices
- Newsletter: unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
- Directory listing: contact [email protected] to edit or remove your listing.
- Right to know / delete (California residents): California residents have the right to request information about, and deletion of, personal information we have collected about them. Email [email protected] to make a request.
8. Children
LawyersTrend is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
9. International Visitors
LawyersTrend is operated from the United States. If you access the site from outside the US, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your country of residence.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the site. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
