<p>The Perecman Firm PLLC was established in Manhattan in 1983 by the late David H. Perecman and has operated as a plaintiff personal-injury practice for more than four decades. The firm concentrates on construction accidents, premises liability, motor vehicle collisions, workers' compensation, medical malpractice, and wrongful death, maintaining offices in Manhattan, Long Island, and Queens and limiting representation to New York-based matters.</p><p>Construction litigation under New York Labor Law sections 240 and 241 has historically defined the firm's caseload. Documented outcomes published on the firm's case-history pages and in its Wikipedia entry include a $40 million settlement in 1993 arising from an infant brain injury caused by a delayed Caesarean delivery, a $29 million settlement for the family of a construction worker who died in a 44-story fall, and a $19 million settlement for a worker struck by a falling steel beam during crane operations in Manhattan. A 2014 scaffold-fall settlement of $9.9 million was recognized by the New York Law Journal as the second-largest civil settlement in New York State that year. TopVerdict separately reported in 2020 that the firm secured two of the twenty largest work-accident settlements in the United States that year.</p><p>David Perecman, the firm's founder, held continuous listings in The Best Lawyers in America from 2008 onward and in Super Lawyers &mdash; including the Top 100 Metro New York designation from 2019 through 2024 &mdash; beginning in 2007. Best Lawyers named him Lawyer of the Year in Personal Injury Litigation for Long Island in its 2022 edition, and the National Law Journal inducted him into its national Hall of Fame in 2008. He served as an officer and board member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, holding the roles of Secretary, Treasurer, and chair of the Labor Law Committee.</p><p>Steven Dorfman, the firm's Managing Legal Officer, has appeared in New York Super Lawyers from 2019 through 2023 and in Best Lawyers 2024, and has earned recognition from the New York Law Journal for top verdicts in the state. Zach Perecman serves as Managing Business Officer. The firm is admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, in addition to New York State courts.
